Untitled Watercolour on Paper attributed to Filippo De Pisis

A beautiful watercolour attributed to renowned Italian paper Filippo De Pisis (1896-1956).

The piece is signed 'Pisis' to the bottom-right and 'SB' to the bottom left. This would reference San Barnaba, the district of Venice that was home to De Pisis' studio during his sought-after Venetian period. This dates the piece to the 1940s.

The paper is mounted to a piece of card — seemingly by the artist since the strokes continue onto the mount in a couple of places.

De Pisis was honoured at the Venice Biennale (La Biennale di Venezia) in 1948. 

The dimensions of this artwork (excluding the mount) are approximately 37cm x 27cm.
