Avery worked from his gallery and studio Man of Ross Gallery in Ross-on-Wye until his death.

The work features the lighthouse at Honfleur — made famous by Georges Seurat's 'The Lighthouse at Honfleur' — along with the harbour walls and some boats at low tide.
